Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, is playing a game to seize control of Gotham’s criminal underworld. Aside from a Bat-sign in the final shot of the season finale, we never got our Robert Pattinson costume in “The Penguin.” In this short video, IMDb attempts to answer the question: where the hell was Batman? Colin Farrell fought hard to land his own version of the Penguin in Batman (2022), but failed. In his own series, however, the character is portrayed as a casual smoker who prefers cigars.

Farrell STOLE this series

An umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo. Starring Graham Norton and others: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). Stunning.

There’s nothing cartoonish about him

There’s nothing about the character that suggests Farrell. The NY dialect, the sway and limp, the attitude: you’d swear he’s a different person. The amazing prosthetics are so realistic and further enhance the character. The performance is bold and graphic.

It’s well-written and exciting

It’s a great match for Christopher Nolan’s Batman. In fact, I’d say it blows Marvel’s line out of the water. I’m hoping this can be a season 2, but I know it’s limited. Shame.

HBO has a legitimate chance

Although it’s accurately described as occupying the largest residential plot (11 acres) in London, excluding Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming. I watched The Night Agent and thought it couldn’t get much better than that, and I was wrong. I loved every second of this series.

So cerebral and exciting

Everything you could want in a series. The characters and acting were top notch. It was so great to see the delicious Rufus Sewell again and the role he played, never knowing what he was going to do next.

Played to perfection

Keri Russell was just great as the ambassador. I also loved David Gyasi. Overall a wonderful series, maybe a little short, but worth watching.

The best political show since The West Wing

Lissi enjoys the deterioration of her husband Gerd’s condition in the house. Even Leo Tolstoy knew that every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. This is also clear to German director Matthias GLASNER, who was awarded the Silver Bear at BERLIN 2024 for his new film DYING. But he can add the North German Protestant variant to the topic, which increases family melancholy even more. Lissie Lunis (Corinna HARFUCH) and her husband Gerd (Hans Uwe BAUER) live in a small North German town and are already suffering from old age.

Melancholic film from the German world!

The fact that the film does not become boring in three hours is the merit of the fantastic cast, which also includes Anna BEDERKE, Robert GVISDEK, Saerom PARK, Saskia ROSENDAHL and Ronald ZERFELD. German actors Corinna HARFOUCH (1989 EUROPEAN FILM AWARD nominee for TREFFEN IN TRAVERS) and Hans Uwe BAUER were awarded the 2024 GERMAN FILM AWARD for their superb performance. The fight over the coffee table between HARFUCH and EIDINGER is one of the most impressive events seen in German cinema in recent years. The Lunes family is unhappy in its own way. Haven’t we seen enough of this already?

And yes, and no

Of course, as a moviegoer you ask yourself if this is typical of Germany (or at least northern Germany) or if it would be possible in other cultures. But Matthias GLASNER sets very high goals for himself and takes an example from such great movie stars as Ingmar BERGMAN and Federico FELLINI. After all, it’s not for nothing that Tom Lunies prefers to watch the four-hour television version of “FANNIE OCH ALEXANDER” (1983) on Christmas Eve. And the character played by Robert GVISDEK (son of HARFUSH in real life) reminds me, at least, of Steiner, played by Alain CUNEY in the movie “Sweet Life” (1959). Of course, depressive German cinema is not to everyone’s taste.

But the fact that the story is close to reality makes a special impression that you should definitely expose yourself to
