Amber, the agent of happiness, travels through the Himalayas of Bhutan, researching people’s happiness. He is looking for satisfaction in his long mountain journey. I’m not sure if it should be called “Satisfaction Agent”. instead of? Not satisfaction with what is barely enough, but sincere satisfaction with one’s destiny. That’s what Amber tries to find out, traveling all over this tiny Himalayan kingdom twice a year, trying to find out how its citizens feel about things. Using a combination of tools, he talks to old and new residents, urban and rural, traditional and more modern – and all this with the goal of finding out what the population feels, and conveying this information to the government, which wants to listen and learn about these views. to help people stay in good condition – morally and physically. This documentary introduces us to a number of people whose aspirations vary greatly – sometimes depending on age, ability, location, education/professional abilities – but mostly you are left with the feeling that they value their environment. Even though the West may consider their way of life as simpler, agrarian, undeveloped; their own perception of their existence high in the mountains with beautiful scenery, fresh air and the blessings of their Gods seems to offer this elusive feeling of less, greater and satisfaction. Obviously, not everyone is insanely happy, but the “noisy” mood is clearly lacking. for a change, as respect for the King and the status quo seems to permeate the entire demographic, screaming that it’s not broken, so don’t fix it. There are quite a lot of characters here, some of them are more interesting, and some are downright miserly, and Amber sometimes has to work hard, asking to get meaningful answers to his questions, so that he can usefully extrapolate the data. In a society that is not really technologically advanced, it seems that everyone still has access to the Internet, and there is a proud tradition of educating everyone to enable them to make decisions – and yet, they still, in general , feel this magical word. Happy. Owning cows also helps!
