The character of Sawyer was originally meant to be an older, elegant, suit-wearing city artist from Buffalo, NY. However, when Josh Holloway forgot a line in his audition and subsequently kicked a chair in frustration and cursed loudly, the writers liked the edge he brought to the Sawyer character and decided to write Sawyer as a darker, southern drifter.. Jin and Sun are married and share the last name “Kwon”, which becomes a major plot point in the final season.

LOST transcended TV drama writing and encapsulated the theme when it burst onto the scene in 2004. It’s been 14 odd years now, and the show still holds up. Seriously.
