A retired CIA agent is haunted by both the agency he worked for and his own nightmares when an unknown man visits him unexpectedly after nearly three decades. Production was halted in March 2020 due to government restrictions. During this time, Jeff Bridges was diagnosed and treated for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Bridges referred to the return as coming back after a “long weekend”. Appeared at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024). The first two parts are brilliant.

The casting has been excellent so far in the series and the acting style has been done very well by experienced professionals. Amy Frederica Brenneman was what this show needs; The mystery in Amy’s character brings this out just as it did in HBO’s The Leftovers. The sense of vulnerability plays so well with Jeff Bridges, even when Jeff wants to get the hell out of the loop.
This is excellent network television
Zoe is attracted to McDonald, Amy’s character has real chemistry as the two actors play off each other. The Old Man has extremely intelligent writing, which is nurtured by the talent of the Ensemble. This thriller is moving in an interesting direction, I am very curious to see how this series will develop!
